I began making the scroll of the violin by first drawing my own design. In the drawing I made, I mapped out the locations of the peg holes as well as the depth of the peg box.
After cutting out a template I poked holes in the piece of paper big enough for the tip of a pencil. These holes allowed me to mark out the shape of the scroll as well as the positions of the peg holes.
I then cut the outline on the bandsaw
The initial scroll was roughed out before detailed edges were added.
Detailed edges can be shown with angled lighting.
